Toyota Premio

Toyota Premio
The Toyota Premio is a mid-size sedan sold in Japan by Toyota.
The Premio is an upscale, and more luxurious sedan in comparison to the Toyota Allion sedan, which has a more youthful, and sporting nature. Both vehicles were introduced at the same time. Wood trim and silver accents gives the Premio an elegant look and it is considered to be a family or executive type car. Appearance modification options made for the Allion are not made or marketed for the Premio.
In terms of class, the Premio is designed to fill the gap between the Toyota Corolla and the Toyota Camry.
1st Generation (2001-2006)
The Premio is the successor of the Toyota Corona and the Corona Premio. The first generation Premio was launched in December 2001. It was offered in three engine sizes; 1.5L, 1.8L and the 2.0L. In 2005, the Premio saw a minor refresh which is most evident in the updated brake lights.
2n Generation (2007-Present)
The 2nd generation Premio went on sale in 2007. It still continues to fill the gap between the Corolla and Camry, and has a more expensive look than the previous. The engine size offering is still the same; 1.5L, 1.8L and 2.0L

Vitz 2009

Toyota Vitz already going the lithium-ion route
Global automakers are racing to develop the next generation of energy-saving lithium-ion batteries, but Toyota has already been quietly using the technology in one of its cars in Japan - although in small numbers.
Worries about the safety of the batteries, which have had problems overheating and even bursting into flames, have been a major obstacle to introducing them in cars.
Lithium-ion batteries, already widely used in laptops and other gadgets, are considered critical in developing future electric, hybrid and other ecological vehicles because they are smaller, yet more powerful than the nickel-metal hydride batteries used in hybrids like the Prius now.

Since 2003, the lithium-ion battery has been part of an "intelligent package" for Toyota Motor Corp's Vitz subcompact - although the feature still isn't widespread among Japanese consumers. About 700 of the Vitz with the feature were sold this year.
Toyota executive vice-president Masatami Takimoto told The Associated Press recently the company hasn't marketed the feature aggressively because battery supplies are limited and the company can't respond to massive demand.
But the feature is available at dealers, and consumers can get them if they ask for it. "We don't tell everybody about it," Takimoto said.
"But we already have our own lithium-ion battery."
Testing technology on public roads - especially over a long period of time - is crucial for ensuring the safety of a technology as well as for working out details of performance that may become a problem when an experimental technology is turned into a commercial product.
The Vitz with the lithium-ion battery - which sits below the passenger seat and recharges during driving - delivers better mileage at about 25 kilometers a litre (60 miles a gallon) in Japanese testing, compared to about 22km a litre (53mpg) in the regular Vitz, according to Toyota

Under the hood, the car also has a regular battery, which is used to start the car.
When the car goes into idling, as when the driver shifts to neutral or park at a stop light or congested traffic, the engine stops automatically without the driver having to turn it off with the ignition key as in a regular car.
That helps save on gas. The engine restarts - powered by the lithium-ion battery - when the driver's foot is lifted from the brake pedal.
But while the engine is off, the lithium-ion battery keeps providing electric power to the car's air conditioning, radio and other equipment.
A Vitz with the "intelligent" feature costs about 1.17mil yen (US$10,200; euro 7,000), about 100,000 yen (US$870; euro600) more than standard models.
Other automakers, including General Motors Corp and Japanese rival Nissan Motor Co, are all working on lithium-ion battery technology for green cars expected in the next decade or so.
Toyota has not given details about what's in store for the next-generation Prius.
And it's unclear when it plans to offer electric cars, hybrids or other models with lithium-ion batteries. - AP

2010 Acura ZDX

Honda has released initial details on the new 2010 Acura ZDX, which is what Honda calls a four-door sports coupe. Honda will be positioning it between the MDX SUV and the RL sedan. The ZDX will be powered by Honda’s 3.7 liter SOHC i-VTEC V6 engine, producing 300 horsepower and 366Nm of torque, mated to a new 6-speed automatic transmission which will hopefully later trickle down the product range into the Accord. The ZDX also features SH-AWD or Super Handling All-Wheel Drive. Only 3 photos of the production car have been released so far, which you will find after the jump along with some videos and a full photo gallery of the concept version of the ZDX which Honda revealed at the New York show.

Acura has given a name to its new 4-door “coupe” SUV which will rival the BMW X6 Sport Activity Coupe. A prototype version of the new Acura ZDX will be unveiled at the 2009 NYIAS on the 8th of April 2009, just over a week from now. Under the hood will be a 300 horsepower 3.7 liter V6 engine with 373Nm of torque which should be pit against the X6 xDrive35i, but no rival for the xDrive50i version in sight for now. Power for the ZDX will go to all four wheels via Honda’s SH-AWD system. So there’s no new Acura/Honda NSX, but instead they give us something like this.
Yet again, thanks to the beauty of the Internet, we have some leaked teaser images to show you, this time, the casualty being a new crossover concept by Acura. The potential rival to the BMW X6 (if it goes into production) will make its first official appearance at the upcoming New York Auto Show.
With a coupe-ish roof line, just like Munich’s X6, the concept is expected to feature bold styling with a wide and aggressive stance and with hidden rear door handles. Reports also indicate that the concept will carry Acura’s new grille design language.
Power for forward and rear motion is expected to be supplied by a 3.7 liter V6 power plant that is able to churn out 300HP and 372Nm of torque. The Acura Crossover Concept is also expected to feature Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive System, also known as SH-AWD. Please continue reading to view more leaked teasers.
The mid-sized Acura TL sedan receives a full model change for the 2009 model year. As you can see from the photos, the approach that Acura has taken with the fourth generation TL is far from conservative. It looks very decidedly Japanese and I’d expect such a production design to come out of Mazda’s design studios.
The 2009 Acura TL will come in either front wheel drive or all-wheel drive configurations. The AWD system is Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system which can split torque in an optimum ratio between the front and rear axles and also the rear left and rear right wheels.
The suspension rides on double wishbones at the front and multilink at the rear. Engine options will consist of the J-Series 3.5 liter SOHC V6 producing 280hp and 345Nm of torque, and a more powerful 3.7 liter V6 producing 305hp and 373Nm of torque.
Look after the jump for a low-res photo gallery. Hi-res photos and full details to come later.

announced the all-new Accord for Europe. Aimed squarely at challenging established premium contenders in the D-segment, Honda’s all-new Accord Saloon and Tourer offer sporty styling, greater refinement and a unique package of safety systems, together with excellent dynamic capabilities. Strong environmental credentials in the form of an all Euro 5 emissions compliant engine line-up further emphasize Honda’s intent with the the all-new Accord.Significantly wider and slightly lower, the styling adopts a more emotional, sporty motif. The ‘sharp-edged’ design, with pronounced muscular wheelarches that emphasize the car’s wider track, gives the Accord a distinctive, strong stance with a solid, planted feel. The distinctive nose and more flowing lines deliver a tauter and more athletic shape. The evolution from the previous generation Accord is even more pronounced in the case of the Tourer, where a greater emphasis on load carrying practicality has evolved into a more dynamic expression of its advanced technology, while still retaining a strong degree of versatility and practicality.Three advanced new engines with some of the lowest emissions in their segment. The new range is one of the first to offer a complete engine line-up that will comply with the forthcoming Euro 5 emissions regulations which aren’t due to be introduced until September 2009. The exceptional environmental credentials haven’t been achieved at the cost of driving enjoyment, however, and greater frugality is matched by greater performance and flexibility.Making its debut is Honda’s second-generation diesel engine which builds on the outstanding qualities of the award-winning i-CTDi unit to raise the bar in the diesel stakes once again. Its advanced technology and overall capabilities place it firmly at the forefront of diesel development and underpins the Accord’s claim to offer one of the strongest combinations of dynamic performance and environmental responsibility in the marketplace.Like its predecessor, the new i-DTEC engine is compact, lightweight, refined and quiet in operation. It employs the latest piezoelectric multi-stage fuel injection technology, more efficient exhaust gas recirculation and a particulate filter for significantly reduced emissions. At the same time both power and torque levels have been increased for a sportier driving experience. Output is 10 PS greater at 150 PS/110 kW at the same 4,000 rpm, while peak torque is now 350 Nm at 2,000 rpm.The 2.0-liter i-VTEC offers similar levels of performance to its predecessor – 156 PS at 6,300 rpm

– but builds on its class leading fuel economy. Key technological changes include increased diameter intake valves, further optimized valve lift and timing and increased inlet and exhaust air flow volumes. The 2.4-liter engine is more powerful, delivering 200 PS at 7000 rpm and peak torque of 233 Nm at 4500 rpm – up from 190 PS and 223 Nm. Behind the figures are a compression ratio increased from 10.5 to 11.0:1, larger diameter valves, revised valve timing, and reduced exhaust system pressures.6-speed manual/5-speed automaticAll three engines are matched to a 6-speed manual transmission, while both petrol engines have the option of a 5-speed automatic.Manual models feature a ‘Shift Indicator Light’ or SIL which appears in the center of the rev counter. ‘UP’ or ‘DOWN’ are displayed to advise the driver of the optimum point (in terms of best fuel economy) at which to change gear; Honda tests have demonstrated fuel savings of as much as 5 per cent simply by following these commands. The 5-speed automatic transmission now has a straight ‘P R N D S’ gate: using the steering wheel paddles in S mode provides a sequential shift mode, allowing manual shifting and gear hold.Agile, secure handlingEnthusiastic drivers will also appreciate the new Accord’s greater agility. A lowered center of gravity, a wider track and the all-new front double wishbone and rear multilink suspension with variable rate dampers, plus greater body rigidity mean that the Accord more readily reacts to driver input. Handling is more responsive and confidence-inspiring and body roll is much reduced.Speed sensitive electric power steering is standard on all models and the new axial system features a high output, low inertia brushless motor which provides excellent steering feel at higher speeds for a sense of stability and confidence. A quicker steering ratio has also been adopted in keeping with the Accord’s more agile chassis characteristics.A comprehensive safety packageComplementing an armory of passive safety features is an outstanding array of dynamic systems delivering even greater security. Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) is standard across the range and is designed to assist the driver in maintaining control during cornering, acceleration and sudden manoeuvres by applying braking to the right or left hand wheels as necessary and modulating the engine torque output as required.Motion Adaptive Electric Power Steering (EPS)The new Accord also features an innovative system in which the capabilities of both VSA and the car’s Electric Power Steering are brought to bear. Called Motion Adaptive EPS, it detects instability in slippery conditions both during cornering and under braking and automatically initiates steering inputs aimed at prompting the driver to steer in the correct direction. The input is barely noticeable and control of the steering remains with the driver at all times. But this supporting steering torque is enough to prompt the driver to act intuitively and the driver’s reaction as a result is enough to regain stability or to shorten braking distances, allowing control to be maintained.Advanced Driving Assist System (ADAS) optional across the rangeOptionally available on Executive grade on 2.2 i-DTEC and 2.4 i-VTEC is Honda’s Advanced Driving Assist System (ADAS), a suite of three ground-breaking technologies that raise safety to a new level. The first of these is the Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) which uses a camera to detect the car deviating from a traffic lane and provides steering torque when necessary, thereby reducing the burden of motorway driving while at the same time enhancing safety.Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) uses a millimetre-wave radar to maintain a consistent distance to a vehicle directly in front, for more relaxed, less tiring driving. The third ADAS system is the Collision Mitigation Brake System (CMBS) which monitors the following distance and closing rate between the Accord and the car directly in front of it, warning the driver when a collision is likely and helping reduce impact when a collision becomes unavoidable. These systems complement the Accord’s passive safety features which include front seatbelt pre-tensioners and load limiters, dual stage front airbags, driver and front passenger side airbags, full length curtain airbags and ISOFIX fittings and tether anchor points for secure childseat fixture on all models. There are also front seat active headrests which are triggered when the occupant is pushed into the seat in the event of a rear impact, so causing a rigid plate to activate a link to the headrest which pushes it forward to support the head.Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) Body StructureProgressively introduced throughout the Honda range, the Accord’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) Body Structure provides significantly enhanced occupant protection in a variety of real-world crash conditions.A front-mounted polygonal main frame is designed to prevent cabin deformation by distributing forces through multiple major load bearing pathways – and away from the passenger compartment. This is particularly important where a frontal collision occurs between vehicles of differing heights, weights or frame construction. To achieve top level, side impact safety, Honda's engineers have increased the side section of the frame and chosen different material specifications to provide the desired level of stiffness and strength for critical areas, without adding unnecessary weight. The new Accord also incorporates many of the pedestrian-protection design features already familiar from recent Honda models, including windscreen wiper pivots designed to break away on impact, energy absorbing front wing mounts and bonnet hinges alongside an unobstructed area beneath the bonnet allowing greater space for deformation.Premium interior with carefully selected materials and outstanding fit and finishThe sporty feel of the cockpit is reflected in a fascia design characterised by a strong feeling of personal space for both the driver and front passenger. Distinctive silver trim sweeps inwards across the fascia from either side before continuing down into the center console. Stylish and highly supportive front seats have larger bolsters while a new internal structure is designed to reduce any transmission of vibration.Black with silver trim, the sporty three spoke steering wheel holds a complete suite of controls – including audio, cruise control and mobile telephone control. It is fully adjustable for reach and rake, with an extra 10 degrees of tilt adjustment compared to the previous Accord. The new Accord features ‘floating’ backlit instruments and contained within the center of the speedometer face is an LCD multi-information display showing a variety of information – controls positioned on the steering wheel allow the driver to cycle the display through multiple screens of information.A new feature is a service reminder that presents the driver with either the distance or days remaining to a required service, with an enlarged warning symbol appearing when the due date is imminent.Storage space includes two center console side pockets; a lidded storage area to side of the steering wheel; large front door pockets able to hold bottles and maps; bottle holders in the rear door panels, and a large center console box. Rather than a fold-down pocket design, the large glovebox now has an independent lid and is subdivided with a tissue box compartment as well as space secured for a manual. The lid of the center console box doubles up as an armrest and is slide-adjustable by 89 mm. Two cupholders are provided in the center console, while rear seat passengers have access to a further two contained in the center armrest, revealed when it is folded down.

Audi Car

Audi has revealed its new A8 luxury saloon, due to go on sale in March next year. Although the new car is not a massive departure from the current model the exterior has been styled to fall in a line with the new Audi face taken from the current A4 saloon. The front and rear lights use LEDs that weigh less than traditional lighting systems.
It's bigger than its predecessor, measuring 5,137mm long, 1,949mm wide and 1,460mm tall and it's longer and wider than a Mercedes S-class or a BMW 7-Series. It runs on new alloy wheels which has helped to cut around 6.5kg from the A8's kerbweight. In total the new all-aluminium A8 is 22kg lighter than the current model. Two engines are available: a 4.2-litre V8 petrol delivering 372hp/328lb-ft and a 4.2-litre diesel with 350hp/590lb-ft. An 'economy 3.0-litre V6 diesel delivering 250bhp and emitting just 159g/km of CO2 is expected later on in the year. All A8s will come with an eight-speed auto and four-wheel-drive. It will come in both short- and long wheelbase models but this is the shorter version. The long wheelbase will be revealed next year.
It is suitably quick: the petrol version will accelerate from 0-62mph in 5.7sec while the diesel is fractionally faster, sprinting from 0-62mph in 5.5sec. Top speed is limited to 155mph. Audi also introduces a new safety system called pre-sense that activates the hazard lights, closes the windows and sunroof and pre-tensions the seat belts if the brakes are fully applied. Three other versions of pre-sense are available including one that decelerates the car and applies the brakes if it thinks an accident is imminent. Another applies the brakes sooner and harder and third system moves the front seats forward to help protect the passengers in a rear-end collision. Inside it's all-new and the MMI infotainment system has been moved from the centre console to the fascia. There's also a touchpad panel, which allows you to write letters or numbers on the screen to enter phone numbers or navigation destinations

Toyota Corolla 2009

2009 Toyota Corolla
When Toyota released New Vios a while ago, I have the feeling that the car is ugly than the Old Vios. I don’t know what the heck their designer thinking is. Now, Toyota released their New 2009 Corolla. Well known in Asia as Toyota Altis and in Europe & Australia as Toyota Auris.

For the American version of the new 2009 Corolla, Toyota has brought in the usual add-ons like DVD navigation with satellite traffic reports, Bluetooth® phone connections, audio input jack, and leather-wrapped steering wheels with audio controls.
The Standard, LE and XLE models have a new 1.8-liter engine with 16 valves, dual cams, and dual VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing with intelligence for both intake and exhaust); it produces 132 hp at 6,000 rpm and 128 lb-ft of torque at 4,400 rpm, similar to the prior model, so we’d expect the change in design is to reduce assembly costs. Gas mileage, according to tough 2008 standards, is expected to be 27/35 mpg. While Corolla maintains the same headroom, legroom and shoulder room as the previous model, it feels larger, thanks to a design that enhances comfort and improves utility, usability and storage. Easy-to-reach storage spaces include center console side pockets, a storage box above the usual glove box, front and rear door pockets that can safely hold 20-ounce bottles, a console box with a large-capacity main tray and a smaller accessory tray, an overhead console useful for storage of sunglasses or garage-door openers, and a rear-seat center armrest with an integral drink holder. Retractable handgrips are above each door opening.
The wide, low profile was developed by Toyota Design in collaboration with styling studios in Turin, Italy. Its foundation was set by the search for a lower, sportier shape than that of the previous Corolla. That search drove the decision to move the bottom of the A-pillar forward and the bottom of the C-pillar aft to increase the angle of the window glass and to improve the Corolla’s aerodynamic performance.
Safety features on the all-new Corolla include standard driver and front passenger airbags, front seat-mounted side airbags and two-row side curtain airbags. Active front-seat headrests are standard equipment. When the vehicle is struck from the rear, a cable-actuated mechanism in the active headrest moves the headrest upward and forward to limit the movement of the seat occupant’s head. Anti-lock braking (ABS) is standard; vehicle stability control (VSC) with traction control (TRAC) and an off switch are optional.

Summing up, the 2009 Corolla Altis is perfect for those who find the Camry too big. You cannot go wrong with the Corolla, the car that built Toyota’s reputation for reliability, high standard of quality and high resale value. The Corolla is the most popular car in history with over 40 million sold worldwide. It may not be as exciting or as sporty as some of its competitors in the compact sedan market, but it will provide you many years of comfortable, trouble-free driving.

Honda City 2009

The 2009 Honda City is one of the most talked about cars in Asia right now. With high global oil prices, the appeal of small cars is obvious

The Honda City looks set to capture a large chunk of the small sedan market in this part of the world, and with just a couple of weeks left before the launch, there is still some mystery about the details of the car.
Let's have a look at what is known, or can be assumed about the new car, and try to fill in the blanks with some educated guesses. Hopefully we'll get close to reality

All of the information below is based on leaked information and none of it can be assumed to be 100% accurate.

The 2009 Honda City will be in Thai showrooms on 10th September. Thailand will be the first country in the world to get Hondas small sedan, with Thailand being a production and export hub for Honda in the region.
Naturally, Honda Thailand will accept advance bookings on the car, but if you go and ask they will not be able to show you a picture of the car, the will only be able to give you some specification details. The reason for the secrecy is obviously to do with the fact that the car hasn't been introduced anywhere else in the world yet, but I wouldn't be comfortable booking a car when so little is clear about it.
Engine and Transmission - Straight from the Jazz
Ah, yes, this much is for sure. The 2009 Honda City will share the same power unit and transmission as the recently introduced 2nd generation Jazz. And, as with the Jazz, the City will only have the one engine. The previous generation was available with a 1.5 i-DSI or a 1.5 VTEC, producing 88hp and 110hp respectively. The iDSI models were more economical on fuel, and i-DSI models were also cheaper.
The new model will simplify things with just one engine on offer, the 1.5 litre i-VTEC. The 1497cc SOHC (single-over-head-cam), 4 cylinder, 16 valve engine uses Honda's i-VTEC technology to improve efficiency and power. The unit can now deliver 120 hp at 6600 rpm. The engine is E20 capable.
